Douglas B. Walker, principal of Mountain States College Planning Associates, began his career in the financial services industry in 1979 as an Account Executive for a commodities brokerage firm and then for a full service securities brokerage firm where he handled the full range of investment and insurance needs for clients with a variety of investment goals. He also met the financial planning and insurance needs of clients as a member of a local insurance agency. Working closely with attorneys in several states, Mr. Walker ran a successful insurance practice meeting the financial, tax, retirement and long-term care planning needs of the senior community. He won sales awards for several insurance companies, including #1 individual producer.
Based on his years of working with families, Mr. Walker strongly believes that college funding, in reality, is a cash flow and retirement planning problem. He is a licensed Life and Health insurance producer in Colorado and several other states in the eastern USA. Since 2007, Mr. Walker has been involved in setting up and implementing college funding plans for families in the Metro Denver area.
In addition to having undergone extensive background checks as a member of the National Ethics Bureau, he is a member of and has received extensive training from CASH College Funding, the College Planning Network and the National Association of College Funding Advisors. He is also a member of the National Institute of Certified College Planners and has earned the Certified College Planning Specialist designation.
